Sport has increasingly become a vital area within public policy, yet it continues to receive limited attention in research on public policy and administration. This panel warmly invites both theoretical and empirical contributions that examine the design, governance, and implementation of sport policies. Papers may explore a variety of topics, including policy objectives and strategies; the roles of supranational, national, and local authorities; and the interactions with sports organizations, private sector entities, NGOs, and community stakeholders. We welcome discussions on important issues such as administrative capacity, funding, regulation, initiatives that promote elite sports, inclusion, health, and local development. We particularly encourage exploration of multilevel and multi-actor arrangements, as well as the outcomes of their implementation. Comparative research spanning multiple countries and sports subsectors, including insights from the Global South, is especially valued.
