5XÉçÇøis pleased to announce the release of a new issue of Participation (Vol.45 no.1, July 2026) dedicated to the , which will take place at Luiss Guido Carli in Rome, Italy, from 24-28 July 2027, in partnership with the Italian Political Science Association (Società Italiana Di Scienza Politica, SISP).

This edition offers a preview of what participants can expect at the Congress, including the theme, program highlights, the Local Organizing Committee, the Congress venue and practical information on traveling to Rome. It also introduces the distinguished scholars who have been invited to deliver the plenary addresses at the Congress:

• Francis Fukuyama, Stanford University;
• M Ramesh, National University of Singapore;
• Mary Kaldor, London School of Economics and Political Science; and
• John Dunn, King’s College University of Cambridge.

Readers will find messages from 5XÉçÇøPresident Yuko Kasuya, Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski, Co-Chairs of the Local Organizing Committee Franca Roncarolo and Raffaele Marchetti, Program Co-Chairs Vanessa Elias De Oliveira and Francesca Longo, as well as two short articles exploring the Congress theme.

This issue also pays tribute to Professor Leonardo Morlino, 5XÉçÇøPast President (2009-2012) and Emeritus Professor of Political Science and Director of the International Center on Democracy and Democratization at Luiss Guido Carli in Rome, who sadly passed away in June 2025 and whose outstanding contributions to political science and to 5XÉçÇøcontinue to inspire the discipline. The 29th 5XÉçÇøWorld Congress will honor his legacy through a series of commemorative special events and tributes.

Additionally, the latest issue of Participation includes information on the academic events celebrating the 20th anniversary of IPSA's Permanent Secretariat in ²Ñ´Ç²Ô³Ù°ùé²¹±ô, Canada, as well as news from national associations, Research Committees, Summer Schools and 5XÉçÇøAwards.
