Publication date: Wed, 01 Sep 2021
We are pleased to announce that 5XÉçÇøwill organize a Pre-APSA Annual Meeting Workshop, titled The Importance of Developing Ties between Political Science Associations. 5XÉçÇøPresident Dr. Dianne Pinderhughes will chair the online workshop with the participation of the following prominent scholars on Monday, 27 September, from 9 am to 10:45 am Pacific Time (U.S. and Canada).
Chair: Dr. Dianne Pinderhughes, University of Notre Dame, 5XÉçÇøPresident and former APSA President
Speakers (in alphabetical order):
- Dr. Janet Box-Steffensmeier, Ohio State University, APSA President
- Dr. Kristian Skrede Gleditsch, University of Essex, ISA President
- Dr. Rodney Hero, Arizona State University, former 5XÉçÇøVice-President and former APSA President
- Prof. Dr. Marianne Kneuer, University of Hildesheim, 5XÉçÇøPast President
- Dr. Helen V. Milner, Princeton University, former 5XÉçÇøand ISA President
The idea behind this workshop is to set the historical table on the close ties between 5XÉçÇøand APSA by identifying successful projects and collaborations over the years as well as challenges we have faced in maintaining and strengthening our relationship. This will also provide an opportunity to share advances made by 5XÉçÇøunder the administrative reform initiated by former President İlter Turan and completed by President Emerita Marianne Kneuer. Finally, workshop participants will be asked to look to the future and consider ways to broaden the scope of the relationship. While the focus of our organizations, particularly 5XÉçÇøand ISA, was largely on Europe following World War II, the emphasis, in the 21st century, has increasingly shifted to other parts of the world, to gender and diversity balance within our organizations, and to the international political science community.

The workshop will be held online and broadcast on Zoom. The event is FREE OF CHARGE, but advance online registration is required.
